I hope that the future will see new drugs being developed that can specifically target, for example, tumours. It's amazing the treatments we now have for a number of cancers but it's still a bit like trying to crack a nut with a sledgehammer.

But who will put in the investment to get drugs like this onto the market?

I too would like to see this happen.
Millions of pounds are raised each year for cancer charities and wonderful work is being done but it never seems to be aimed at those with less common cancers, where in fact breakthroughs might occur, just because of their rarity.
Drug companies only seem interested in volume of sales and profits from a mass market.

The cynic in me sees the "Cancer Industry" making a fortune "managing" the disease, cures would knock profits too much............
